Arunie Saldhi - From Tech to Mental Health – A Unique Perspective - Stories with Shomik Episode 3

I hit a significant milestone with my podcast today - Hitting 3 published episodes puts me in the top 20% of podcast creators globally! Yeah, that number seems very low but there’s a life lesson here about being persistent. Having Arunie on the show made it even more special. Usually, I introduce my guests, but with Arunie's extensive background, I felt it best for her to share her story in her own words.

Arunie revealed herself to be a registered provisional psychologist with a private practice catering to high performers and founders. But what truly amazed me was her dedication to various nonprofits in Calgary. She’s deeply committed to providing free counselling for South Asian clients battling issues like domestic violence, family violence, addiction, and mental health.

Arunie and I share a passion for podcasting! She co-hosts “Brown Girl Problems” with her friend Shahrazad, discussing the unique challenges faced by brown girls. It’s one of the few podcasts I am able to tune in and stay engaged all the way to the end. To my surprise and amusement, I found myself invited to a future episode of their show that would touch on the dilemmas of brown boys!

But Arunie's involvement doesn't stop there. She collaborates with numerous organizations in Toronto and Calgary, advocating for mental health in the workplace. It's clear this isn't merely a side gig for her – she genuinely loves raising awareness about mental health's vital role in professional settings.

One of the main reasons I was eager to have Arunie on the show was not only her exemplary work in the mental health field but also her fascinating transition from tech to psychology. This unexpected career shift promised an engaging dialogue on life's unpredictable turns.

My episode with Arunie wasn't just a celebration of reaching a podcasting goal; it was a deep dive into the vital importance of mental health, both in our personal lives and our careers.
