How old is too old?

We're currently experiencing an event I'd compare to this generation’s industrial revolution - AI. We've seen a lot of once in a lifetime moments happen over the last 5 years so I understand people's skepticism and jaded feelings (Looking at the NFT and crypto crowd)

Every time I have engaged with AI platforms , it has felt nothing short of magic. The use cases seem obvious (and people much smarter than me are working on non-obvious cases) It's been a while since I've been excited with new tech (last time was with no-code in 2020)

I've always been a curious guy, but not necessarily had the patience to spend hours doing research on a topic. ChatGPT helps me find the answers to my most random musings. Now it's not replacing traditional search quite yet, but it's enough content and direction to get me started on a rabbit hole.

I think this is super exciting! I love tinkering with it and sharing it with my friends (the ones that are patient enough to listen ofcourse, love you guys)

I mentioned it to a good friend I went to business school with - currently on a good career trajectory, makes good money and well aware of the world. He cut me off to say “I'm too old for this bro. This isn't gonna impact us.”

I was a little taken aback, this is someone I'd consider tech savvy and keen to learn.

I'm 31, he's 35. Neither ages are old by any definition. Is this a genuine disbelief in the tech or are they digging their head in the sand?

It begs the question, “How old is too old?”

I don't have an answer to this question, but over the next 30 days , my goal is to write on this blog every day. Maybe I'll have an answer, maybe not. Time will tell.
